Randy graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Music Performance. After a stint with the US Army, Randy attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. Randy’s early legal career was in litigation, both oil and gas royalty class actions, as well as intellectual property disputes.

Through the late 90’s and early 2000’s his solo practice developed into one assisting tech based startups navigate the commercialization process and counsel for small business. In parallel, he was partner in a consulting firm taking US and European companies to the Middle East and North Africa to establish themselves and to develop business.

Randy formed PetroCounsel in 2006 to focus on providing title opinions to the growing shale plays, and by mid-2008 was the largest firm of its kind in the country. PetroCounsel developed many innovations in the practice of law, including perfecting a virtual law model, standardized product processes and delivery, an alternative billing system based upon the number of items examined, and a best-in-class training system for new examiners.

Randy is one of the leading Oil and Gas and Natural Resources attorneys in the country, and is a regular speaker at industry training events. He is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. He is the father of 2 sons and enjoys gardening, woodcraft, music composition, and searching for the next disruptive technology that he can help.
